Speed is everything — most banks can recall fraudulent transfers if you call within an hour.
What to do
- Find the 24/7 fraud number on the back of your card or the bank's official website (do not Google it)
- Tell them: 'My account is compromised — freeze all cards and online access immediately'
- List every unrecognised transaction and ask them to start a fraud investigation
- Ask them to attempt a recall on outgoing transfers and reverse pending card charges
- Get a written incident reference number before hanging up
