Real security help — free, clear, and built to actually work.
Most security advice online is too technical, hidden behind a paywall, or written to sell you something. CyberSecurityGuides exists to be the opposite: clear, practical help that protects you first.

Founder, CyberSecurityGuides
Why I built this
I co-founded a cybersecurity company called I've Been Hacked, where we helped thousands of people get their digital lives back under control — recovering hijacked accounts, untangling scams, cleaning up compromised devices, and then locking everything down so it wouldn't happen again.
Doing that work taught me the oldest lesson there is: give someone a fish and they eat for a day; teach them to fish and they eat for a lifetime. Cyber security is about 90% knowledge — knowing the best tools to use, the kinds of attacks that are out there, the smartest way to secure your accounts, and what to watch out for in the first place.
So I started CyberSecurityGuides to hand that knowledge over. The goal is simple: give you the power to identify, remediate and protect yourself — in clear, plainly-written guides that, honestly, even your nana could follow.
How every guide is made
“Expert-built” isn't a slogan — here's the standard behind every guide on the site.
Grounded in real-world experience
Written from real hack-recovery and security work — not rehashed from other blogs.
Plain language, always
No jargon for its own sake. Anything technical gets explained, so anyone can follow along.
Tested and kept current
Every step is checked against the live apps and updated as products, threats and settings change.
Honest recommendations
Only tools that are genuinely used and trusted get recommended — and the free option is flagged when it's all you need.
Two tools to get you moving
Guides tell you what to do. These walk you through it.
I've Been Hacked
Something already gone wrong? A guided, step-by-step tool that helps you work out what happened and exactly what to do — in the right order.
Start recoverySecurity Health Check
A quick check-up that shows where your security is strong and where it needs work — with clear next steps to close the gaps.
Check your securityWhat you'll find here
Hundreds of guides across the topics that actually keep you safe.
What I stand for
Hard-won expertise
Not theory rewritten from other blogs — it comes from years of helping real people recover from hacks, scams and breaches.
Free and accessible
Every guide is free, with no paywalls and no jargon for its own sake. If you can read it, you can act on it today.
Honest recommendations
I only recommend tools I actually use and trust. The advice never changes based on who pays.
Built for everyone
Written for real people — families, seniors and small businesses — not just the technically minded.
Privacy-respecting
I practise what I preach: no selling your data, no creepy tracking. The same advice I'd give a friend.
Global, Australian roots
Built and run from Australia, but written for anyone, anywhere — threats and fixes cross borders.
How this stays free
Every guide here is free, and always will be. To keep it that way, some of the tools I recommend are affiliate partnerships — if you sign up through one of my links, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
But here's my rule: I only ever recommend products I actually use and trust, and the recommendation never changes based on who pays. If the free option is all you need, I'll tell you — even when it isn't the one that earns anything. Your security comes first; that's the whole point.
Spotted a gap? Tell me.
I'm always looking to make these guides as accessible as possible. If you feel I may be missing a key topic — or you've even got a critique on an existing guide — you're welcome to reach out any time via the form on the contact page.
Small, self-funded & free for everyone
This is an independent project kept free and up to date by us. If it's helped, there are a couple of no-pressure ways to support it — including some that cost you nothing at all.
