How to remove location data from your social media

Take a weekend pass through your accounts. Once cleaned up, future posts only need a single setting change.

iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera → Never. Android: Camera app → settings cog → Location tags → off. New photos no longer carry coordinates.

Snapchat Map → settings → Ghost Mode. Facebook → Settings → Location → Nearby Friends → off. Instagram → Settings → Privacy → don't add location stickers. Disable BeReal location.

Instagram: open the post → … → Edit → tap location → remove. Facebook: post → … → Edit Location → remove. There's no bulk tool, so prioritise sensitive locations (home, kids' school).

Switch profiles to private/friends-only on Instagram, Facebook, and X. Snapchat: My Story → Friends Only. The smaller the audience, the smaller the leak surface.
