How to tell if your GPS is being spoofed

GPS spoofing means your phone reports a location that isn't real. Most consumer cases involve a 'mock location' app installed on the phone — often by someone who had physical access — to fake check-ins, win games, or evade location-based restrictions.

Maps shows you somewhere you're not. Ride-share apps quote crazy distances. Banking apps refuse logins citing 'location mismatch'. Fitness apps show impossible routes.

Settings → System → Developer Options (enable by tapping 'Build number' 7 times). Look for 'Select mock location app'. If anything other than 'No app' is selected, your GPS is being faked by that app.

iOS doesn't allow mock locations without jailbreak. Settings → General → VPN & Device Management. Any unknown profile or developer certificate is suspicious.

Look for 'Fake GPS', 'Location Spoofer', 'Mock Locations', 'Surfshark Spoof' or anything similar. Sideloaded apps (installed outside the official store) are a red flag.
