How to Change Your TikTok Email to Proton Mail

TikTok accounts are frequent targets for hackers due to their large followings and creator monetization features. By switching your account email to Proton Mail, you ensure that password reset links and security notifications are protected by end-to-end encryption.

Before you start: Make sure you have a Proton Mail account. Create one here if needed.

Step 1: Open TikTok Security Settings

Open the TikTok app
Tap Profile (bottom right) → ☰ Menu (top right)
Go to Settings and privacy
Tap Account → Email (under Account information)

TikTok currently only supports email changes through the mobile app, not the web version.

Step 2: Update Your Email Address

TikTok will first verify your identity — you may need to enter a code sent to your current email or phone
Once verified, enter your Proton Mail address
Tap Send code — TikTok will send a verification code to your Proton Mail
Open Proton Mail and find the code
Enter the code in TikTok to confirm the change

Important

Important: If you signed up with a phone number and never added an email, you'll be adding an email for the first time. This is highly recommended for account recovery.

Step 3: Secure Your Account

Enable Two-Step Verification — Settings → Security → Two-step verification. Use SMS or an authenticator app.
Review authorized devices — Settings → Security → Your devices. Remove unknown devices.
Check linked accounts — Settings → Account → Linked accounts. Unlink any you don't use.
Use a strong password — Generate one with Proton Pass.
