Step-by-step guide to hardening your Snapchat against hackers.

    Good to know

A few minutes securing your Snapchat can protect your memories, streaks, and personal data.

    1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication

    • Settings → Two-Factor Authentication
    • Choose Authentication app (recommended) or SMS
    • Generate and save a recovery code

    2. Verify Contact Information

    • Confirm your email and phone number in Settings
    • Use a secure email only you access

    3. Strengthen Your Password

    • Use a unique password of at least 16 characters
    • Never reuse elsewhere
    • Use a password manager

    4. Privacy Settings

    • Set 'Who Can Contact Me' to 'Friends'
    • Set 'Who Can View My Story' to 'Friends Only'
    • Enable Ghost Mode on Snap Map
    • Disable 'See Me in Quick Add'
    • Review 'Connected Apps' and remove unused ones

    5. Additional Security

    • Enable login notifications
    • Review your friends list regularly
    • Be cautious of third-party Snapchat apps — they violate ToS and can steal your credentials
