Dragging an app to the Trash on macOS leaves behind LaunchAgents, helper tools, and preference files — exactly where adware likes to live. Use this checklist to remove an app properly.

    Step 1: Quit and uninstall

    1. Right-click the app's Dock icon → Quit
    2. Open FinderApplications
    3. Drag the app to the Trash
    4. If the app has its own uninstaller (some Adobe / antivirus apps), use it instead

    Step 2: Remove leftover files

Press ⌘ ⇧ G in Finder and check each folder for files matching the app's name or developer:

    • ~/Library/Application Support
    • ~/Library/Caches
    • ~/Library/Preferences
    • ~/Library/LaunchAgents
    • /Library/LaunchAgents
    • /Library/LaunchDaemons

Step 3: Login Items & background

    1. System SettingsGeneralLogin Items & Extensions
    2. Remove any remaining entries belonging to the app

Step 4: Empty Trash and restart

Empty the Trash (Finder → Empty Trash) and restart your Mac to release file locks.
