Freeze your credit and dispute every synthetic account

    A freeze blocks new accounts — the synthetic identity's whole purpose.

    The freeze stops the next account being opened. The disputes peel back the fraudulent ones already on your file. You'll need to do both.

    Disputing the right way

      • Always dispute in writing (email or letter) — phone disputes leave no paper trail
      • Quote the bureau's reference number on every follow-up
      • Set a 30-day reminder; bureaus must respond within that window in most countries
