Keep Your System Up to Date
- Check for Android System Updates: Go to
Settings→System→Software updates→System update. On some Samsung phones, this might beSettings→Software update→Download and install. - Update Google Play System: This is separate from Android system updates and provides important security fixes for core services. Find it under
Settings→Security & privacy→Google Play system update. - Update All Apps: Open the
Google Play Store, tap your profile icon (top right), thenManage apps & device→Updates available→Update all. Enable auto-updates for convenience.

Review Your Privacy Settings
- Manage App Permissions: Go to

Important
Harden Your Lock Screen Security
- Set a Strong Screen Lock: Navigate to
Settings→Security & privacy→Device unlock. Choose a strong PIN (6 digits or more), a complex pattern, or a strong password. Avoid easily guessable information like birthdays. - Configure Fingerprint Unlock/Face Unlock: If available, set up biometric unlock under
Settings→Security & privacy→Fingerprint UnlockorFace Unlock. This offers convenience without compromising security, but always have a strong backup PIN/pattern/password. - Lockdown Options: Within
Settings→Security & privacy→Device unlock→Gear icon for settings(or similar, varies by device), enable 'Show lockdown option'. This allows you to quickly disable biometrics and smart lock features, requiring your PIN/pattern/password to unlock the device after activating.
